Money Saving Expert names top 4 current accounts for perks – free Disney+ | Personal Finance | Finance

Brits can open second accounts just for the perks, while leaving their everyday banking untouched. The only downside is that some banks require a minimum monthly pay-in or include a fee, with Money Saving Expert suggesting those considering the move to only do so “if the perks outweigh the cost”.

Among the best deals are Santander’s Edge account, which pays 1% cashback on bills paid by Direct Debit up to £10 a month, and the Club Lloyds account, which offers annual Disney+ subscriptions or six cinema tickets.

The Zopa Biscuit account was also highlighted by Money Saving Expert for its fee-free 2% bills cashback for a year up to £30, available with no hard credit check.

And the consumer finance website rounded out the list with the Chase current account, which offers 2% cashback on spending and 4.5% saver and fee-free overseas spending.

“Done right, [opening a second account] can earn you £100s a year in cashback and rewards,” the consumer finance website said.

Santander Edge

This account charges a £3-a-month fee but offers a number of perks, including 1% cashback on bills up to £10 a month and 6% easy-access savings. It is also a top option for debit spending overseas, with “near-perfect exchange rates”. However, it does have a minimum monthly pay-in of £500 with an overdraft rate of 39.94% EAR variable.

Zopa Biscuit

This is described as a “great bills cashback account” that’s easy to get with no hard credit check. There is no minimum pay-in or overdraft, and it offers 2% cashback up to £30 a year on all Direct Debits. It is also a top debit card for spending abroad, but it is capped at £200 a month, with fee-free ATM withdrawals.

Chase current account

This account is described as a “great all-rounder” for getting cashback on everyday spending. It has no minimum pay-in or overdraft and gives 2% cashback on spending and a 4.5% easy-access saver for 12 months if opened within 31 days. It also has no fees abroad but offers no cashback for overseas spending. Holders do need to spend at least 15 times a month on the card, however, and have £1,000 or over in Chase savings accounts to qualify for cashback.

Club Lloyds

This account is a good choice if you’re likely to use the perks and linked savings account, according to Money Saving Expert. While no cashback is available, holders can choose a yearly reward from Disney+ with ads, six cinema tickets, Coffee Club and Gourmet Society membership or a magazine subscription. They also receive an 8% regular saver with interest on balances if holding two or more Direct Debits. There’s no minimum pay-in, but the monthly fee is £5 unless paying in £2,000 or over. The overdraft rate is 39.9% EAR variable.
