The Beatles made Prue Leith ‘feel such a fool’ at her newly opened restaurant | Films | Entertainment

Back in 1969, Prue Leith opened Leith’s, her Michelin-starred Notting Hill restaurant.

At the time, the likes of the Rolling Stones and the Beatles would show up to try her luxury cuisine.

Speaking on the Great British Bake Off Instagram, the 85-year-old recalled: “I do remember when the Beatles came, I was incredibly excited.”

Dame Prue continued: “I said, ‘What would you like to eat?’ And they said, ‘We want a fry up’. It was dinner time and we had a very expensive restaurant, which only did four course dinner. And so I said to them, ‘I mean, of course we’ll do anything you want. It’s going to be incredibly expensive because we have a fixed price.’ They said, ‘Y’know what, we can afford it.’ I felt such a fool.”

And then the drummer butt in.

She added: “And then Ringo said, ‘And don’t put any green stuff on it.’ And I said, ‘What do you mean?’ And he said, ‘You chefs put green things on everything.’ And of course, it’s true. We do. However, I promised him I wouldn’t put any green stuff on it.”
